3 Reasons to Transmit Electricity at high voltages

Electrical power is transmitted at high voltages due to following reasons:
  1. Area of cross section decreases: The area of the conductor is inversely proportional to the voltages. Due to this reason at high voltages cross-section of conductor increases. Mathematically: area = k/V2s
  2. The efficiency of transmission line increases with the voltages.
  3. The percentage line drops decrease with the voltages.
