For smaller voltages, our three-phase electrical power system uses three conductors (one conductor for each phase). With the increase in voltage levels, multiple conductors are used instead of a single conductor. Bundled conductors are employed for voltages ranging at or above 345 kV.
For EHV voltage ranges (345, 500, and 765 kV) we use 2, 3, or 4 bundled conductors
Whereas UHV voltage ranges (1000, 1100, 1500, 2250 kV) employ 8, 12, or 16 conductors.
